PRIORITY COURSE ASSESSMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS
Some training providers offer courses at a basic low fee, and then charge additional hidden fees / costs to turnaround course assessments in a quicker timeframe, re-assess incorrect answers submitted by the student, and promptly process and generate certificates.
At Owner Builder Centre, we carry out course assessment sessions throughout each day, every day, we provide our training and assessment services until you complete our course, and we then promptly generate your online certificate which you can immediately download and print, at no additional cost or fee to you of any kind.
LONG SERVICE LEAVE LEVY REFUND
When you lodge your Development Application with your Local Council, you will pay the application fee plus an additional 0.35% Long Service Leave Levy if the value of your project is $25,000 or more. Upon completion of our course, we will provide you with information and assist you in obtaining a refund of up to 50% of that Levy, which could be as much as $2,000.
COMPLETE YOUR MANDATORY WHITE CARD COURSE WITH US
The White Card Course is a mandatory safety course covering basic areas of work health and safety in the construction industry. Service NSW will not issue you with an Owner Builder Permit unless you have completed the White Card Course and can produce a General Construction Induction White Card as well as the Owner Builder Course certificate that we issue you with. If you have not completed a White Card Course in the past, we also offer the White Card course which you can complete with us.

OWNER BUILDER INSURANCES
When you complete our Owner Builder Course, we will provide you with a competitive insurance quote for your particular project through our alliance insurance partner on Construction Works and Public Liability Insurance – the most important insurance you will need as an Owner Builder.
Our insurance quotes are the most competitive on the insurance market, and include wide coverage, twelve months cover, and low excess amounts.
FREE BUILDING CONTRACTS AND SAFETY DOCUMENTS
Under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW), where a contractor is engaged by an owner to do work over $1,000, the parties must sign a written contract that complies with the law.
All students will receive the following Home Building Contracts that have been legally drafted and designed to protect you as an Owner Builder:
- Minor Works Contract (valued at $79.00) – for building work that is less than $20,000
- Small Works Contract (valued at $59.00) – for building work that is $20,000 or more
Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), an Owner Builder has a legal obligation to manage safety risks in a systematic manner, as well as to have a written Site-Specific Management Plan in place when the total value of the work exceeds $250,000.
All students will receive a FREE 70-page Safety Management System valued at $699.00 that has been legally drafted, and designed to assist Owner Builders in complying with safety laws.
The above templates comply with the requirements of the law and can be used multiple times by you as an Owner Builder.
FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE
If you register and complete our Owner Builder Course, we will also be able to provide you with FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE AND GUIDANCE by email and telephone, even after you have completed our Course, to help you through your Owner Builder project.
This service is available to you for up to 6 months from the date you registered to complete the course.
Our legal assistance and guidance is provided by our in-house solicitor, and can cover matters such as:
- Home Building Contract requirements
- Licensing requirements
- Home Warranty and other Insurances
- Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Disputes with builders and/or contractors, including payment disputes
- Assistance on how to resolve disputes, including in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT)
- Protecting yourself overall as an Owner Builder
This service operates to provide general assistance and guidance to students who are acting as Owner Builders in relation to their individual Owner Builder project, and it is not intended for us to examine reports, correspondence, photographs or other
documentation. This free service is limited to a maximum of thirty minutes of our time in providing the free advisory service.
